One would rarely turn to the sight of old steel bridges to find artistic inspiration, yet Steven Pollock has looked beyond their rugged exteriors and drawn upon their engineering complexity to create his latest piece, Hercules Desk. Exuding an aesthetic simplicity, this desk pays homage to some vital constructive components of a bridge. The configuration of rivet castings, an essential binding element, is displayed on the steel I-beam. While the concrete sides act as the grounding abutments. Incorporated into many of Steven’s works are the memory imprints of the concrete form tie. A reference to the always present structural integrity. The Hercules Desk is not only a beautifully eloquent and unique piece, it epitomizes strength and longevity.
