BENTALLS

My first professional career job offer years ago was at the Bentall Towers in the financial district of downtown Vancouver. Just out of school, I was starting down the path that education and society had prepared me for. It was an exciting moment and represented independence and a secure future.

Now in my new career, the Bentall columns represent something different and I hope something that others can relate to. They are a reflection of my experience that who we are today is not what we were yesterday, nor what we will become tomorrow. They are a symbol of oneʼs integrity, the importance of freedom and the possibility of growth from the choices we make.

The concrete in the base of the columns symbolizes the foundation that we build our lives on and the wood tops represent the influence of human interaction with our surroundings. The cross-section of the wood displays a sense of history and a window view of our time on this planet.
